Central Park — More than 75 people put their best moves on display March 11 for Dance for a Cure. The event at Clark College benefited the American Cancer Society Relay for Life and was organized by Sherrie Robertson and her Relay for Life team, Grey Matters 2. Participants learned Jazzercise moves taught by Robertson and 10 other instructors from Battle Ground, Camas, Hazel Dell, Hockinson and Orchards. The event included a raffle with 26 donated gift baskets up for grabs. Robertson has been involved with Relay for Life since 2010, when her father was diagnosed with cancer. She and her twin sister, Cheryl Phillips, created Team Grey Matters — Fight Like A Girl in Kennewick as a way to support their father while he was battling the disease. Their father succumbed to the illness in 2013, but both sisters remained committed to Relay for Life as a way to honor him. This year was the first Robertson headed up a team in Vancouver. The event raised more than $4,500, which brings the five year total amount raised from all her team’s fundraisers to almost $12,000.
