Patrick Kennedy, son of the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, will be speaking at a charity event at the Heathman Lodge on June 17 in Vancouver.

Held from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Children’s Center Benefit Luncheon is raising money to help children needing mental health services. This is Patrick Kennedy’s only Northwest appearance this year, according to a Children’s Center press release.

Kennedy is a former member of the U.S. Representative for Rhode Island’s 1st Congressional District and a longtime advocate for mental health and addiction awareness services. His book, “A Common Struggle: A Personal Journey Through the Past and Future of Mental Illness and Addiction” will be available for purchase at the lunch. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Children’s Center. Kennedy will be signing books from 1 to 1:45 p.m.

Tickets to the lunch are $125 for a single person, $230 for a couple and $1,125 for a table of 10. The Heathman Lodge is at 7801 N.E. Greenwood Drive, Vancouver. To register for tickets, go to www.thechildrenscenter.org.
