Battle Ground — Battle Ground Public Schools announced the winners of the district’s 57th annual art show, and this year featured a new award, the Bob Peck Award. It honors the former Battle Ground teacher who started the art show and taught art at the high school for 37 years. Peck died this year. The inaugural Bob Peck Award went to Monzerrat Garcia-Rico, a Pleasant Valley Primary School third-grader. Christina Protsenko, a Summit View High School 10th-grader, and Daybreak Middle School fifth-grader Laela Richards each won Best in Show. Ashley Conjugacion, a River HomeLink eighth-grader, took home the Superintendent’s Award. The public can view the artwork from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on school days at Captain Strong Primary School, 1002 N.W. Sixth Ave., Battle Ground.
