SEATTLE — Police say an officer shot and killed a dog that attacked two women and a dog in Seattle.

Seattle Police said in a Thursday news release that a 40-year-old woman was walking her dog on a leash when another unleashed dog ran up and bit them both.

Police say a woman who owned the off-leash dog chased after it and was bit while trying unsuccessfully to corral the canine.

Two officers arrived at the scene on the 7900 block of Renton Avenue South within moments and police say one of the officers fired a gun, striking and killing the dog. Neither officer was injured.

The 40-year-old woman was taken to Harborview Medical Center with serious bite injuries while the other woman was taken there for bite injuries that were described as minor.
