Letter: Letter reflects hypocrisy

By Davis Evans, VANCOUVER

In Dori Harston’s Nov. 17 letter “Bring forth harmony and peace,” she compares the people of America to instruments in an orchestra, each adding its own sound. This is beautiful.

But then she calls people who disagree with her “butt-headed dimwits.” She says “their mentality could easily fit atop a pin head.”

The people who are protesting are exercising their constitutional rights in this country to express their opinion. There is ample reason to be fearful and concerned after the election. The people of America have elected a xenophobic liar as president. He has threatened all kinds of drastic measures that would restrict our Constitutional and hard-fought freedoms.

Her call for symphonic harmony in the same breath as her insults of anyone who disagrees is the height of hypocrisy.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
