Local comic book store I Like Comics is set to raise money for local illustrator Rebecca Woods for a new wheelchair. The fundraiser will include a meet-and-greet and book signing with “Fight Club” author Chuck Palahniuk.

Woods suffers from a degenerative tissue disorder known as Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. Organizers said her need for mobility will only grow and she needs a new, durable wheelchair.

The two-day event doubles as the 6th Anniversary celebration of I Like Comics. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to7 p.m. Friday and  Saturday.

Author Palahniuk will attend Saturday, hosting a meet-and-greet at $30 per ticket.

All proceeds will go toward Woods’ new wheelchair.

Remaining profits will benefit The Hero Initiative, a charity organization for low-income people in the comics industry.

Tickets to meet the Washington-born author are limited to 400 and are available at I Like Comics, 1715 Broadway St.
