Vancouver – The Vancouver Clinic has been named a Seattle Seahawks Champion of Sustainability.

The annual Champions of Sustainability program — a partnership between McKinstry, a firm that specializes in energy and facility services, and the Seahawks — recognizes organizations during each regular season home game that exhibit forward-looking approach to innovative energy and waste reduction, according to a news release.

The Vancouver Clinic was named the week three Champion of Sustainability and was honored during the Sept. 25 Seahawks game in Seattle.

The Vancouver Clinic is working with McKinstry to finalize energy improvement measures at its 87th Avenue office, 700 N.E. 87th Ave. Those improvements include LED lighting retrofit and new scheduling and override capabilities in their building automation system, as well as plumbing and irrigation updates.

In all, the enhancements are expected to save 1.2 million kilowatt hours of energy annually — a 26 percent reduction — and reduce natural gas consumption by 13 percent and water usage by 15 percent. That’s equivalent to removing 48 houses from the grid.
