Letter: I-1501 proves deceptive

Thanks for the front-page story on Measure I-1501, (“Ongoing fight an I-1501 subplot,” Oct. 24) and the deception that accompanies it. As with just about anything political, follow the money. The fact that the SEIU has given almost $1.5 million to get this passed is quite telling. Unfortunately, the average voter is uninformed and will only see the “protects seniors from identity theft” and almost certainly vote for it. Reading the voters’ pamphlet is almost pointless for this measure. The majority of the information only talks about the identity theft part with very little addressing the information release section. The “Argument for” only talks about the identity theft section. Knowing that public unions are dying, it’s really no surprise that they would stoop to this level of chicanery to try and get something past the voters. If you truly value transparency and accountability, you’ll vote “no” on Measure I-1501.
