How Clark County college football players fared, Sept. 3

It was a weekend of debuts for several Clark County football players. It was also a homecoming for a handful of Central Washington players across the river in Portland.

One of those players, Jesse Zalk, had the top performance of any Clark County player in a college game this weekend. The NCAA Division-II preseason All-American from Prairie had nine catches for 181 yards and three touchdowns.

Camas grad Blake Roy had a memorable start to his college career at the University of Redlands. The freshman tight end caught a 13-yard touchdown pass.

Last game: Opened the season with a 37-21 win over Abeline Christian.
Next game: vs. Georgia Southern, Sept. 10, 11 a.m.

Brody Bagnall, Evergreen, So., LB — Played in a backup role.

Chris Mitchell, Mountain View, Fr., OL — Will likely redshirt.

Carroll College

Last game: The No. 22 Saints beat No. 7 Montana Tech 27-24 on a 45-yard field goal as time expired. Carroll is 1-0 overall and 1-0 in the NAIA Frontier Conference.
Next game: at Rocky Mountain College, Sept. 10, 12 p.m.

William Noce-Sheldon, Seton Catholic, Fr.*, WR — Did not play.

Jordan Del Moral, Camas, Fr., RB — Will likely redshirt.

Central Washington

Last game: Lost its season opener at Portland State 43-26.
Next game: at Western Oregon, Sept. 10, 1 p.m.

Jesse Zalk, Prairie, Sr., WR — Had nine catches for 181 yards, including touchdown catches of 32, 63 and 31 yards. Also returned five kickoffs for a total of 90 yards, the longest being 21 yards.

Kevin Haynes, Battle Ground, Jr. LB — Had 12 tackles including eight solo and 1.5 for loss.

Josh Stolz, Mountain View, Sr.* OL — Started at center for an offense that gained 445 yards.

Kaben Humphrey-Butler, Union, Sr. WR — Played in a backup role.

Chavo Camargo, Mountain View, So., K/P — Made two of three extra points. Had a 37-yard field goal blocked and also handled kickoff duties.

Citrus College

Last game: Beat Chaffey 48-41 in overtime.
