Letter: Re-elect Herrera Beutler

By Israel Epstein, VANCOUVER

Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, has been criticized for missing votes while caring for her “miracle baby,” born without kidneys. When Democrat Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords received lengthy rehabilitation following critical injury by gunshot, she missed a whole year. Republican opponents showed sympathy, not criticism.

According to a 1972 law, Medicare paid the kidney medical expenses, not Obamacare.

Demanding to know our congresswoman’s position on Donald Trump is a distraction. The attackers would not vote for her whether she disavowed Trump or not.

Enough with unfair and insincere attacks. Herrera Beutler, a proven moderate-conservative who has served us well, deserves to be re-elected.
