A Vancouver man who robbed a clothing store at gunpoint was sentenced Wednesday to nearly four years in prison.

Eddie Z. Scott, 19, pleaded guilty in Clark County Superior Court to first-degree robbery stemming from the July 28 incident in the Maplewood neighborhood. Charges of intimidating a witness and possession of a stolen vehicle were dismissed as part of a plea deal, court records show.

Scott entered CT Fashion at 2201 Fairmount Ave., brandished what the employee believed was a handgun and demanded all of the money in the register. The employee said she feared for her life so she complied. Scott then fled the store with $18 and two shirts valued at $9.99 each, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Police did not initially locate Scott. He later was stopped by Clark County sheriff’s deputies in a stolen vehicle and admitted to robbing the store at gunpoint, the affidavit states.

Senior Deputy Prosecutor Kasey Vu said the gun Scott used during the crime looks real but only shoots blanks.

Scott’s defense attorney, Maggie Evansen, told Judge Scott Collier that her client suffers from mental health issues and went off his medication.

This was his second “strike” offense — three “strike” offenses result in life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.

Collier followed the attorneys’ previously agreed-upon sentence of 46 months in prison and 18 months of community custody. Scott was given time served credit for 42 days in custody.
