Letter: Renewable energy revolution

In March, I attended training in Denver to become a climate reality leader.

The Climate Reality Leadership Corps is chaired by former Vice President Al Gore. During the training I learned from a group of scientists, business leaders, policymakers, and innovators about climate change and what it means to our planet as a whole. It is my intent to bring the message about the dangers of a changing planet back to my community.

As our global temperatures rise, both land and sea, our food supply amounts, water quality, and global health will be at risk. But there is hope. The costs to achieve renewable energy technology are lower than the costs of reliance on fossil fuels, and renewable energy sources like the sun and wind are already being used by businesses and consumers.

This renewable energy revolution also promises new job growth for American workers. But we still have work to do to make a renewable energy revolution a reality. I will be hosting several presentations around the Vancouver community over the next year discussing these topics.
