Plankhouse volunteer training on Saturday

Cathlapotle Plankhouse will hold a volunteer training session from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The session will be at the plankhouse in the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, 28908 N.W. Main Ave., Ridgefield.

Cathlapotle Plankhouse opens its season April 16. Volunteers will greet guests on the weekends, lead school groups during the week, and help people understand the significance of Chinookan history and the cultural legacy along the Lower Columbia River.

Training will include discussing indigenous cultures, exploring Chinookan art styles, and describing tools and technologies used in the Cathlapotle village.
