The Buoy 10 salmon season is kicking into high gear at the mouth of the Columbia River.

Last week, 1,362 adult chinook were kept, nearly than double the previous week. The number of anglers more than doubled to 4,120, translating to a catch rate of 0.33fish per angler.

Angler sampling by the Washington (WDFW) and Oregon (ODFW) departments of Fish and Wildlife:

Lower Columbia — Buoy 10 to Tongue Point, 1,748 boaters with 369 adult chinook and 202 coho kept, plus 84 chinook, 107 coho and three steelhead released. (ODFW)

• Tongue Point to Portland, 316 boaters with 20 adult chinook and one coho adult kept, plus three steelhead released. (ODFW)

• Troutdale, 7 boaters with 11 walleye kept and one released. (ODFW)

• Columbia Gorge (downstream of Bonneville Dam), three boaters with no catch; 18 Oregon bank rods with three steelhead released; two boaters with no walleye. (ODFW)

Mid-Columbia — Bonneville pool, seven boaters with three Chinook adults kept, plus one steelhead released. (ODFW)

• The Dalles pool, 29 boasters with 14 Chinook adults kept, plus one steelhead released; 22 boasters with 41 walleye kept, plus 14 walleye released. (ODFW)

• John Day pool, 54 boaters with 57 walleye kept and 19 released. (ODFW)

Cowlitz — Below the I-5 Bridge, 2 bank rods and 1 boat/2 rods had no catch. Above the I-5 Bridge. – 37 bank rods kept 2 adult Chinook and 3 steelhead and released 3 adult Chinook. 10 boats/26 rods kept 2 adult Chinook, 7 steelhead, and 1 cutthroat and released 2 jack Chinook, 1 steelhead, and 10 cutthroats. Bonneville Pool — 10 boat anglers kept 3 adult fall Chinook. From September 1 through December 31, only 1 hatchery steelhead may be retained. (WDFW)

Drano Lake — 29 boat anglers kept 7 adult and 1 jack fall Chinook and released 1 adult Chinook and 1 steelhead. (WDFW)
