Police fatally shoot armed robbery suspect

SEATTLE – Authorities are investigating an armed robbery and car chase through North Seattle that left the suspect shot dead by Seattle police officers.

Seattle police said multiple officers are now on leave after opening fire on the man at Magnuson Park.

Police said the case began with the man and a woman threatening a mall store manager and also a nearby apartment complex manager with a handgun when confronted Monday night.

Police soon arrested the woman and began to chase the man, who was in a car.

Police said the man fired multiple shots at the officers while fleeing.

When the car chase ended, police said officers fired at the man because he got out of the car with a gun.

He was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
