BEND, Ore. – Officials in the central Oregon city of Bend are considering a $7.3 million beautification project along the Deschutes River.

The Bulletin reports that work includes reconstructing the crumbling bank of the river in Drake and Pacific parks.

Officials say they want to replace old rock and concrete walls with a greener, more natural-looking bank.

The plan also calls for extending a beach where river floaters get out and building a path to a new area where floaters can get a ride from a shuttle service.

Plans also call for vegetation that could limit Canada geese from exiting the water to enter Drake Park, where they leave droppings.

The Bend Park & Recreation District will hear details about the plan on Tuesday.
