Letter: Fee increases hit renters

The Dec. 12 story “Glitch left Evergreen $1.2M short on fees” reported that an administrative error left Evergreen Public Schools short of funds. However, even though the area is short of apartments and rents are increasing at an alarming rate, the impact fee per apartment unit went from $2,678 to $7,641. That’s almost a 300 percent increase.

Now I understand more clearly why rents are ramping up so quickly while my Social Security income remains the same.

Ultimately, the renter must pay all costs to build new apartments. As well as pay the increasing costs for everything else.
