Despite having just two seniors, Union coach Mike Cranston doesn’t see inexperience as a liability this season.

“It’s a young group, but they’re talented,” Cranston said. “They have played a lot coming up through the AAU ranks.”

The Titans have a talented senior leader in post Courtney Cranston. New to the program are sophomore starting guard Mason Oberg and 6-foot-1 junior post Toryi Midland, who both started for a Washougal team that reached state last season.

Oberg averaged 14.8 points per game en route to earning first-team all-league honors as a freshman.

“She’s going to have a huge impact,” Mike Cranston said. “She’s coming out of a good system with really good coaching. She’s just got to do what she does.”

Alexis Raymore, Mackenzie Lewis and Rebekah Barney add depth to the backcourt.

Defense has been a hallmark. In starting 6-0, Union didn’t allow more than 48 points in any game.

“We’ve got to really pride ourselves in being a great defensive team,” Mike Cranston said.
