172 flu deaths reported in Washington

SEATTLE – State health officials said at least 172 people have died from the flu this season, making it the deadliest flu season since 2010.

Of the people who died, 151 were 65 and older.

King County reported 35 deaths, the most of any county. Pierce County reported 34 deaths, Snohomish County 33 and Clark County 16.

The state said the actual number of flu deaths may be higher.
