Battle Ground – The Battle Ground school board will consider on Monday asking the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction for a makeup day waiver to ease the pressure created by this winter’s unusual snow closures.

The district will ask the state to waive four makeup days for all schools, plus two additional days for north district schools that faced additional cancellations.

The district will also extend three half days to full days to meet the state’s requirement that schools have at least 1,027 hours of classroom instruction per year.

Battle Ground Public Schools were closed for eight days due to this winter’s snowstorms and inclement weather, with northernmost schools closed an additional two days due to higher elevation snow.

The board meets at 6 p.m. Monday at Lewisville Middle School, 406 N.W. Fifth Ave., Battle Ground.
