Letter: Reason to be thankful

I’m still thankful. No, not about our local Don Benton who, after leaving an environmental director position with the county, a job he was thoroughly unqualified for, becomes a senior adviser for environmental policy in the current administration. Undoubtedly, ex-councilman David Madore has his bags packed and is waiting for the call. He would be an asset as a senior adviser on infrastructure. His background in leading the naive, focusing on imaginary bridge tolls for a nonexistent bridge, coupled with his deft social media skills, unfriending those who oppose him, make him a shoo-in.

And, no, not the two political parties whose blind obsession for party politics rather than the good of this country make equally dysfunctional. The Dems have lost touch with the people and country while the GOP is maniacally marching lockstep following a madman. And please don’t portray that what’s good for the party is good for the country. This administration eradicates that argument.

Yet, I’m thankful. Thankful for the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals that unanimously stood up to this administration, exposing the Trump travel ban for what it is. I’m even more thankful for the millions worldwide that marched in solidarity against hate, discrimination, intolerance and this administration.
