Battle Ground – Brian Munson, who was appointed to a vacant seat on the Battle Ground City Council six months ago, said he will stand for election in November.

Prior to joining the council, Munson was chairman of the city’s planning commission.

Munson said that a councilor’s primary focus should be to advocate for the citizens of that city.

He said that as Battle Ground’s population continues to grow, city councilors have to ask if they’re meeting expectations of the citizens and if they have looked into economic development opportunities.

“I would like to continue to be the voice of reason in our community, and I am continuously researching and studying plans and processes that best suits the needs of this community, and its resident businesses,” Munson said in his re-election announcement. “Your city government needs to be held accountable; in council I will continue to do just that.”
