Letter: Time to crack down on taxes, fees

All is fair in love and war.

I have heard that often, and think it is true now in Clark County. The state of Oregon plans to impose tolls of the Interstate 5 and I-205 bridges. The only hope to prevent this is a denial by the Federal Highway Administration.

Yet, in the midst of this absurdity, Washington continues to, equally absurdly, waive our state sales tax to residents of Oregon. And what about the thousands of vehicles in Clark County registered in Oregon to avoid our license fees that are not being actively pursued by law enforcement?

I think the time has come to bring a quick and certain resolution to both of these absurdities. After all, all is fair in love and war — now, add taxes to that statement.
