Aviation Explorer Post 1905 will hold an open house from 10:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 21 at Pearson Field Education Center, 201A East Reserve St.

Aviation Exploring is a hands-on program for young men and women ages 14 to 20 who are interested in learning about careers in aviation. Parents are also invited; hot dogs and snacks will be provided.

Meetings, on the first and third Saturdays of each month, incorporate activities, field trips, and interactions with aviation professionals. Explorers experience what it’s like to be a pilot, aircraft mechanic, aerospace engineer, flight attendant or air traffic controller. They visit airports, observe flight operations and experience flying.

The open house is free. Annual dues are $27 for those who join the post.

For information, contact Garrett Schmidt at 360-992-1818 or garrett.schmidt@thehistorictrust.org or go to the Facebook page @Aviation Explorer Post 1905.

The Education Center provides aviation-based science, technology, engineering and math programs for youth. It is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays with free activities such as glider building and flight simulation.
