The high school football playoff picture isn’t settled just yet.

That will have to wait until Monday.

Two mini-playoffs will be held at Doc Harris Stadium in Camas to break three-way ties in the 3A Greater St. Helens League and the 2A Greater St. Helens League.

The 3A playoff will begin at 6 p.m. followed by the 2A 20 minutes after the conclusion of the 3A.

The stakes are much higher in the 3A, where two teams will see their seasons end. Evergreen, Hudson’s Bay and Prairie all finished at 2-3, tied for the league’s No. 3 postseason berth.

Evergreen and Prairie will meet first in the tiebreaker. The winner takes on Bay for the league’s final Week 10 playoff berth.

In the regular season, Evergreen beat Bay, Bay beat Prairie and Prairie beat Evergreen, meaning no team can claim head-to-head superiority over the other two.

It’s the same scenario as last year, when Evergreen beat Prairie and Bay in a three-way tiebreaker to reach the postseason for the first time since 2007.

A modified overtime format will be used Monday, with each team getting two possessions from the 40-yard line. If the score is tied after that, subsequent drives will start at the 25.

In the 2A, Washougal, Columbia River and Woodland have all clinched postseason berths with 4-2 league records. A playoff will decide seeds No. 2 through No. 4.

That’s significant because the No. 2 seed will host a postseason game while the No. 4 seed travels to Tumwater, which is ranked third in the Associated Press 2A state poll.

River will face Woodland, Washougal will face Woodland, then Washougal will face River. If no team emerges with the best record after those three rounds, an extra tiebreaker round will occur. with all drives starting from the 25.
