Letter: Nonsmokers have rights, too

Yahoo! Marijuana is legal! Now the masses can purchase weed at their neighborhood dispensaries. So easy. So convenient. For some of us, this is so awful.

Now that weed is legal, my niece’s neighbors smoke it constantly and it permeates every nook and cranny of her home. The aroma fills her backyard. It smells disgusting. I don’t know what those kids are smoking, but it stinks. A former pot smoker came over and complained about the stench.

There is no reprieve from the stink; it appears that those kids don’t let up. They obviously love weed. I can’t seem to escape it, myself. The smell drifts from neighborhoods and floats around concerts at the amphitheater. The message I get is “Look at me, I smoke weed and now you do, too!”

While I am at it, I might as well throw in chain smokers who live in apartments and condos. Their second-hand smoke is a killer. Their apartments reek, and when I visit my mother in her new condo, I almost cry. My visits are short. She has spent a fortune on air filtration machines but now has a nagging cough. What about our rights?
