Legal arguments and guitar heroics. A natural pairing, right?

The Clark County Volunteer Lawyers program, an effort to make sure low-income people have access to civil legal services, happens to include a bunch of local attorneys who are also rock stars. On the local level, anyway.

Five of their groups will compete to raise money for the program — and to earn bragging rights — in the third annual Battle of the Lawyer Bands. Bands will earn points as fans vote with their wallets, but the final award of a sparkly trophy guitar will be made by three guest judges. Plus, attendees can enter a raffle, gamble on a “brown bag” wine pull and enter a pool trick-shot tournament.

Bands playing are: Warball; The Kick; The Marquee Chimps; The Lark with Jack Green; and (two-time returning champs) Blues Ranch. (Some of these bands share members. Don’t tell the judge.)

The entire evening will be emceed by Portland rapper-turned-barber Hanif Collins (aka HANiF). The event has no cover, but donations are strongly encouraged. This is the third annual Battle of the Lawyer Bands.
