Glen Perry Jr. threw for six touchdowns and rushed for another as Mountain View beat Battle Ground 55-22 Friday at McKenzie Stadium.

For a Mountain View team that employs the run-oriented Wing-T offense, Perry looked at home throwing the ball. He completed 16 of 22 passes for 316 yards to seven different receivers.

“I think we’re ready for anything,” senior lineman Nick Jones said. “We’re ready to go out and play.”

Battle Ground (0-3) took the lead on the nonleague game’s first drive. Seth Workman found Noah Barr for a 7-yard touchdown pass.

But it was all Mountain View from there. Three plays later, Perry found Makai Anderson for a 30-yard touchdown pass.

Perry put his team ahead 14-6 with a 26-yard touchdown run on the next drive. Touchdown passes to Mitchell Delmage, Jack Mertens and Rodolfo Montiel followed as Mountain View (2-1) took a 35-6 halftime lead.

“We’ve got depth,” Perry said. “We were a young team last year. We’re older now, more mature.”

Mertens said Perry energized the offense by getting many players involved.

“Our linemen blocked well and he was able to throw it up top and make the plays,” Mertens said.

Workman threw for two touchdowns and ran for another. The Tigers had eight rushers combine for 198 yards, led by 60 from Tyrel Halme.

“I saw a lot better effort than we had in the last two games,” Battle Ground coach Mike Kessler said. “I was very impressed with our offensive line and our running game, especially going down and scoring on that opening drive.”
