Letter: Help businesses in wildfire areas

After seeing a television report on small grocery stores in Corbett and Springdale, Ore., losing thousands of dollars of business because of the wildfire and closure of Interstate 84, my husband and I drove to Corbett and Springdale recently to support these businesses.

Each grocery store offers breakfast and other meals along with other regular grocery and deli items. We were quickly welcomed with expressions of gratitude. Springdale and Corbett are less than six miles out of Troutdale. Though I-84 is open, the Historic Columbia River Highway is still closed. It will be hard for businesses in both Oregon and Washington to recover.

Please consider a short scenic car trip to support these wonderful small grocery stores and other businesses. They really need your support.
