Letter: Support Long for Congress

By Don Howard, Camas
Published: April 23, 2018, 6:00am

The definition of representative is “acting for or representing a constituency or the whole people.” Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, takes thousands of dollars from powerful lobbies, votes for tax cuts which less than one in three people support, and refuses to host town halls.

I just received a third letter from Herrera Beutler about sea lions eating salmon. I want answers about immigration, DACA, health care, tax cuts, gun violence, climate change, abortion, the opioid epidemic, and the border wall. Herrera Beutler hardly qualifies as representative. Carolyn Long has had 15 town halls in four months. Go Long!

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
