Bagley Downs — The Free Clinic of Southwest Washington received $20,000 in grant funding from Legacy Health System. Half of the money will help pay for the clinic’s specialty care referral program, and the other $10,000 will support the immunization program for children and adults. The referral program provides free care for low-income, uninsured residents with specialty care needs. If they qualify for the program, patients can access donated specialty care and laboratory and hospital services. The clinic served more than 450 patients using specialty referrals in 2017. Also in 2017, the clinic’s immunization program served more than 870 uninsured children and adults. “Legacy’s ongoing funding is key to our success,” Barbe West, executive director of the Free Clinic, said in a release. “Through the specialty referral and immunization programs, volunteers provide essential care to improve health and enhance the quality of life for our patients.”
