Ridgefield — Ridgefield Public Schools Foundation developed a need-based music scholarship open to students enrolled in Ridgefield School District, which is funded through a $15,000 donation made by an anonymous donor. The scholarship was created to honor Tanner Trosko, who died in a car crash in 2013 when he was 17 years old. The foundation was looking into a music scholarship in honor of Trosko because of his involvement in Ridgefield High School’s band. The scholarship will focus on supporting students who lack the chance to receive music lessons due to financial barriers. The scholarship is open to students in the district and have been accepted into an existing program at Ridgefield School District Community Education or Opus School of Music. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, and will cover one term of classes through either program. For more information, or to apply, visit www.ridgefieldpsf.org/tanner-trosko.
