EUGENE, Ore. — A Corvallis man was sentenced to 18 months in prison for using his management position to approve invoices from companies with which he had a personal association.

The Register-Guard reported Matthew Linderman, 50, was sentenced Tuesday in federal court in Eugene after pleading guilty to charges of wire fraud and filing a false federal income tax return. Linderman was also ordered to pay more than $1.7 million in restitution.

According to court records, Linderman was a manager at Trimble Forestry Automation.

Federal officials said Linderman authorized company expenditures and received kickbacks on vendor payments. The kickbacks went to companies he owned.

Officials say Linderman also approved more than $2.2 million in payments to two vendors owned by a friend.
