Letter: Support Long for Congress

By Jim Cooper, Washougal

When our current representative for the 3rd Congressional District was asked by The Columbian Editorial Board why the tax relief for individuals expires in 2025, she responded, “I cajoled as many of the committee members as I could on that issue.” Cajoled means to persuade someone to do something by sustained coaxing and flattery. How about using facts to persuade people? Corporate tax cuts never expire; the modest tax cut for individuals phases out rapidly.

We need a new representative who will do more than cajole. Carolyn Long will get the job done. Check out her website and attend one of her town hall meetings.
