G6 Airpark to close 2 sites, blames costs and lawsuits

Indoor trampoline park G6 Airpark will close its two locations in the next month, which the owner blames on rising business costs.

Owner Wesley Dameron wrote in a letter to customers that the two parks, one in Vancouver and another in Portland, were no longer “worth the hassle.”

“With only having trampolines, G6 Airpark in its current incarnation just isn’t worth the time investment anymore,” Dameron wrote. He singled out Washington’s new sick-leave laws and rising minimum wage.

G6 Airpark in Vancouver, at 2200 N.E. Andresen Road, will close May 29. The Portland location, 10414 S.E. Washington St., will close June 16. Lawsuits also added stress, though Dameron maintained that G6 Airpark’s equipment always operated properly and parents sign waivers to allow children to use it.

Clark County court records show G6 Airpark was sued at least once — in 2012, for an undisclosed injury to a minor — and that it settled for $11,200.

Dameron said he will be back sometime with a better sports park. He is aiming for 2020 to open a 55,000-square-foot space with roller skating, rock climbing and laser tag.
