Evergreen Public Schools announces administrative changes

Personnel moves, hires are effective for 2018-19 school year

Evergreen Public Schools last week announced the hiring and assignment changes of new administrators for next school year.

Daniel Orrantia will replace Covington Middle School principal Charbonneau Gourde, who left the district. Orrantia was an associate principal at Heritage High School.

Justin Tanner will move from dean of students at Heritage High School to associate principal, filling the slot vacated by Orrantia. Leah Torres was promoted from associate principal to principal at Columbia Valley Elementary School, replacing retiring principal James Fernandez.

John Yelverton will be the new principal at Sunset Elementary School. He was previously an associate principal at Fisher’s Landing and Harmony Elementary Schools. He replaces Michael Martin, who retired from Sunset.

Kristin White, interim principal at Cascade Middle School, has been named principal.

At Evergreen High School, Charles Anthony, current associate principal at Henrietta Lacks Health and Bioscience High School, will replace associate principal Reuben Dohrendorf. Dohrendorf will move to the district level as the director of school services. Kate Dewein, currently a teacher at Henrietta Lacks, will replace Anthony in the associate principal position.

Erica Pyne will split time as an associate principal between Burnt Bridge Creek and Burton Elementary Schools. She is currently the principal at St. John the Apostle Catholic School in Oregon City, Ore.

Kristie Wall will split time as associate principal between Ellsworth and Riverview Elementary Schools. She has taught in the district at both Fisher’s Landing and Ellsworth elementary school.

Rose Treacy will split time as an as associate principal between Hearthwood and York Elementary Schools. She was an instructional coach at Hearthwood this year.

Kiya Masunaga will be an associate principal at Columbia Valley Elementary School, moving from the same position at Portland Public Schools’ Beverly Cleary K-8 school.

Nick Hanson will become a full-time associate principal at Crestline Elementary School, up from half-time.

Brandy Anderson-Phelps moves from an instructional coach to the associate principal at Fircrest Elementary School.

Kimberleigh Anderson will become an associate principal at Fisher’s Landing Elementary School, leaving her position as an instructional coach at Heritage High School.

Tyler DeWein will become an associate principal at Harmony Elementary School, leaving his position as an instructional coach at Mountain View High School.

Taylor Barnes will become an associate principal at Illahee Elementary School, leaving the same position at Beacon Hill Elementary in Kelso.

Jenna Schofer moves from a teacher-librarian position at Illahee to associate principal at Marrion Elementary School.

Ben Crouse will become a full-time associate principal at Mill Plain Elementary School, up from half-time.

Alex Schiewe will become an associate principal at Sifton Elementary School, leaving his position as instructional coach at York Elementary School.

Zach Dillon will become an associate principal at Silver Star Elementary School, leaving his position as a math teacher at Frontier Middle School.

Gail Westbrook will be come a full-time associate principal at Sunset Elementary School, up from half-time.

The changes were approved by the Evergreen school board.

They will take effect July 1.
