May photo challenge: Remembrances. This photo is of me (Diane
Stevens) in 1960 at my grandmas house (Joy Shuman) in McAllister
Pennsylvania. She knew I loved kittens so she had borrowed some of the
neighbor's kittens for me to play with while I was visiting. Grandma was
such a special person. Always giving to others and thinking about them.
She was a wonderful person.

Pink dogwood tree at Esther Short Park brought to my
remembrance a day in 1954 when I passed my neighbor's pink dogwood tree
that had just burst into full bloom. Looking back, I realize that I
burst into full bloom that year, too. Taken May 1st, 2014.

This is a picture of a beautiful rhodie that my father, Hank
Janssen, started from a cutting when I was a child. My sister, Linda
Clark had the plant at her house and then when they built the Hough
swimming pool, we went and got the plant and brought it to our house.
I think of my dad every time I look at this beautiful Rhodie, I get my
love of gardening from my dad. It grows a lot every year - my husband
has to keep trimming it. We live in the Truman / Roads End Farm

View of The American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, Normandy,
France. I was struck by the sheer number of white crosses for the
American soldiers who lost their lives during World War II. Photo taken
July 2011 when students from Hockinson High School visited France.

This photograph of the Old Garden Roses garden at the O. O.
Howard House at the Historic Reserve showed the emerging rose blooms on
a stormy Spring morning 2014. The worn bench is an invitation to sit,
enjoy and to anticipate "more to come" from Mother Nature.
