Suspected intoxicated driver crashes into police car

A suspected intoxicated driver crashed into a Vancouver police officer vehicle Wednesday afternoon, according to spokeswoman Kim Kapp. A witness in the 1400 block of Grand Boulevard, just north of East Mill Plain Boulevard, reported that the driver of a gray vehicle appeared to be having a medical issue, Kapp said. When police attempted to stop the vehicle, Kapp said, it ended up instead involved in a crash with the officer about 12:50 p.m. The driver, whom Kapp said showed signs of impairment, was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. The officer did not appear to be hurt, Kapp said.
