Repsonding your post. Sorry you couldn't understand or hear my great uncle David Patterson speak at a recent Veteran's Day event. He is 88 years old, after all.

Code Talker tells of Navajos’ role in WWII Pacific combat

I'm very proud of my 88 year old great uncle David Patterson. David is the younger brother to my late maternal grandmother. David and his peers contributed greatly to protect what most people take for granted in this day and age. To know that my Diné (or Navajo) language was used is very humbling. I speak Diné language fluently and I'm teaching my adoptive children who aren't Diné to speak it, as well. We all have our politics, but we must remember and honor our veterans unconditionally. Lastly, conflict will always be part of human culture, but we must teach tolerance and celebrate our diversity.
I know it was difficult for my great uncle to travel to Vancouver for the event he was invited to. He volunteers his time at our local elementary schools around Shiprock, New Mexico. I heard he was concerned about missing the time with the children than going to Vancouver, that's a reflection of his dedication to the younger generation. Thank you for welcoming him to Vancouver!
