Christmas thieves take family’s presents, mementos

LONGVIEW, Wash. (AP) — It looks like Christmas on the outside of Jennifer Johns’ Longview home, with lights and cherry signs proclaiming “Happy Holidays” and “Santa’s Workshop.”

But the mood inside is bleak. On Christmas Day, thieves walked off with all her family’s presents and other possessions.

She says they didn’t just take her PlayStation game console, they also stole five year’s worth of photos stored on the memory card inside.

After a happy Christmas morning opening gifts, the family spent the afternoon at grandmother’s house. They returned to find the back door kicked in and many of their things gone, including a new big-screen TV.

Johns says it feels like the thieves waited for them to leave and knew what was waiting under the tree.
