PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is awarding $10.5 million in grants to buy and enhance coastal wetlands in Oregon and Washington.

The agency announced Tuesday that the money will help preserve and protect more than 2,500 acres of coastal marshes, estuaries and watersheds that serve as wildlife habitat.

Two projects are in Oregon, and 10 are in Washington.

State and local governments, local land trusts, private landowners and others are kicking in nearly $7 million.
