Second vehicle was unoccupied

A 21-year-old Vancouver motorist was injured Thanksgiving evening when her Jeep Cherokee collided with a Toyota 4Runner whose driver had stopped to assist a stalled vehicle.

Jessica L. Krieger was taken to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center after she complained of an injured right arm. She has since been released, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

The accident occurred at 9:16 p.m. on state Highway 503 at Gabriel Road, about five miles north of Battle Ground.

According to a Washington State Patrol bulletin, Krieger was southbound approaching Gabriel Road when she came across an unoccupied 4Runner parked facing north. The driver of the 4Runner was attempting to help a disabled vehicle that was facing southbound and blocking part of the road.

Kreiger swerved when she saw the 4Runner’s headlights, but her Cherokee collided with the Toyota. Both vehicles ended up in the ditch.

The accident remains under investigation. No citations have been issued.
