NORTH BEND, Ore. (AP) — North Bend, Ore., police say a 21-year-old man sought on a probation violation raced away from them across a rotting pier — then disappeared when the pier gave way.
Police called the Coast Guard for help at about 5:30 a.m. Monday, fearing the man might have fallen into the water. The crew of a Coast Guard motor lifeboat located the man hiding under a dock about two hours later. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of hypothermia, then released to police custody.
