LONDON (AP) — Pole vault great Yelena Isinbayeva is taking an indefinite break but insists she will try to win a third straight Olympic gold medal at London in 2012.

Isinbayeva has been considering resting since leaving the world indoor championships last month without a medal.

The Russian said in a statement Saturday that it is her “full intention” to keep training and stay in shape. But at this point she does not know exactly when she will return. Isinbayeva hasn’t ruled out competing in the European championships in Barcelona in July.

Isinbayeva holds the world record at 16 feet, 5 inches, and has broken the indoor and outdoor marks 27 times.
