SEATTLE (AP) — Mariners fans headed to Monday’s home opener won’t have to cross the railroad tracks near Safeco Field.
Gov. Chris Gregoire and Transportation Department officials are celebrating the opening of a new bridge Monday morning.
The Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce reports the bypass is part of an $84.4 million project to improve the flow of car, freight, pedestrian and rail traffic around Seattle’s two sports stadiums.
As part of the ceremony, Port of Seattle officials are signing and agreement to spend $300 million to help replace the Alaskan Way Viaduct and downtown seawall.
