DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Wright State has promoted longtime assistant Billy Donlon to head coach, one day after losing Brad Brownell to Clemson.
The school announced the move Wednesday. Donlon had spent the past four years as Brownell’s associate head coach, along with four years as his assistant at UNC-Wilmington.
The 33-year-old Chicago-area native played at Wilimington before embarking on a professional career in France, Germany and Ireland. He takes over a program at Wright State that has won at least 20 games each of the last four seasons, including a trip to the NCAA tournament in 2007.
Brownell was introduced at Clemson on Tuesday, where he took over for Oliver Purnell.
