GLADSTONE, Ore. (AP) — A would-be robber got more — and less — than he bargained for when he tried to hold up a Pizza Hut restaurant in Gladstone, Ore. , south of Portland. Police say a female clerk at the restaurant wrestled with the man, then bit him to keep him from getting any money from the till.

The man was armed with a knife, but left empty-handed with a wound on his left forearm.

Gladstone police spokeswoman Sgt. Lynne Benton says at one point the clerk had the man in a headlock. And although he reportedly was threatening to stab her, she kept fighting.

Benton says the man entered the restaurant Wednesday afternoon, showed the knife and demanded money.

As the spokeswoman puts it, “That’s when they got into it.”
