CHEHALIS, Wash. (AP) — Lewis County prosecutors have charged Vader City Councilman Rodney Allison with possession of methamphetamine.

Prosecutor Michael Golden says Allison was stopped last Nov. 27 for investigation of driving with a suspended license. That was shortly after Allison won a seat on the six-member council.

Golden says Allison agreed to a search and police found a bag with traces of an unknown substance. A state crime lab recently identified the residue as meth.

In a telephone interview Thursday with the Daily News of Longview, Allison denied possessing meth and said he doesn’t know where the bag came from.

He’s due in court next month.
