FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas basketball coach John Pelphrey says sophomore point guard Courtney Fortson has decided to declare for the NBA draft, but will not hire an agent.

Pelphrey made the announcement Sunday.

Not hiring an agent would allow Fortson to change his mind and retain his amateur status if he withdraws his name by May 8. The NBA draft is June 24.

Fortson, a second-team All-SEC player last season, led the Razorbacks with 17.9 points per game and was the Southeastern Conference’s leading assist man in league games, with 5.9 per game.

His highest scoring game last season was against Mississippi State, when he scored 33 points in the second half, finishing with 35.
