SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn is threatening to veto a new ordinance against aggressive panhandling if it passes the city council.

McGinn has said the city already has an aggressive panhandling law.

The measure going before the council Monday would ban begging near parking meters or within 15 feet of someone using an ATM. It would also ban threatening language or gestures. Violators could be fined $50.

The ACLU says it could be used to target homeless people.
